Welcome back to the church week at Pollocksville Presbyterian Church.

This week’s PollyPress Summary includes Father’s Day worship and lunch details, scholarship information for students, summer schedule notes, Green Team encouragement for Plastic Free July, ministry reminders, and community service needs through The Filling Station.

Father’s Day Worship and Fellowship

Pollocksville Presbyterian Church will celebrate Father’s Day on Sunday, June 21, 2026.

  • Morning Worship: 11:00 a.m. in the Church Sanctuary.
  • Men’s Sunday: The men of the church will be in charge of the Father’s Day service.
  • Covered Dish Lunch: A lunch prepared by the Women of the Church will follow morning worship.
  • Coffee and Cookies: There will be no regular coffee and cookies fellowship on June 21 because of the Father’s Day lunch.

Everyone is invited to attend worship and stay for lunch as the church honors fathers and those who have been father figures in the lives of others.

Scholarship Applications Due August 1

Students in the church family who are interested in applying for a Pollocksville Presbyterian Church scholarship should review the scholarship information included with this week’s PollyPress.

Available scholarships include:

  • The Bender Family Scholarship
  • The Burkot Family Scholarship in memory of Mary Jo, Susan, and Wendy
  • The Tom and Sybil Harriett Scholarship

The application deadline is August 1, 2026.

From the Pollocksville Green Team

The Pollocksville Green Team shared a reminder that caring for God’s world includes reducing the use of single-use plastics. Plastic Free July begins next month, and the Green Team included a 31-day calendar of simple ideas for helping create a cleaner future for children, grandchildren, and generations to come.

Worship, Classes, and Ministry Schedule

Weekly Schedule

  • Adult Sunday School: Sundays at 9:45 a.m. in the Church Library.
  • Children’s Sunday School: Sundays at 9:45 a.m.
  • Sunday Morning Worship: Sundays at 11:00 a.m. in the Church Sanctuary and streaming live on Facebook, YouTube, and the PPC website.
  • Breathe and Movement Class: Tuesdays, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
  • Choir Practice: Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. through June 24.

Choir practice will pause during the month of July.

Upcoming Dates

  • Sunday, June 21: Father’s Day, Men’s Sunday, lunch following morning worship.
  • Sunday, June 28: Men’s Breakfast at 8:00 a.m., Team 2 cook.
  • Friday, July 3: Church Office closed for Independence Day observance.

Pastor Ken Yearick will be away until Sunday, June 21. If a need arises while he is away, please contact a Session member.

Coffee, Cookies, and Conversation

Coffee, cookies, and conversation are usually held in the Fellowship Hall immediately following Sunday worship. Please plan to attend again on Sunday, June 28.

Beginning in July and continuing through September, coffee and cookies will be served after worship on the third Sunday of each month. Anyone willing to help may see Noreen Jekel or sign up.

Breathe and Movement Class

The PPC Ladies had a successful event, and the Breathe and Movement Class continues on Tuesday nights from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Pollocksville Presbyterian Church.

Church Office and Pastor Availability

Church secretary Frances Waters will continue to be in and out of the office. Please call the church office at 252-224-8181 before coming by to make sure she is available.

Pastor Ken Yearick is normally available by appointment on Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., but he will not be in the office Friday, June 19.

PPC is a welcoming, friendly church, and volunteers are needed to greet those entering for worship. Please give this request prayerful consideration and use the sign-up sheet in the narthex if you would like to help.

Devotions and Recycling Reminder

The current quarter of These Days daily devotions is available on the table in the narthex. Please pick one up for devotional use.

Please place any extra or unwanted bulletins in the white wastepaper bins at the rear of the Sanctuary. Wastepaper bins are also located in the library and the Ed Building Fellowship Hall.

Community Service: The Filling Station

The Filling Station continues to serve the community and needs ongoing support through donations, food collections, and volunteer time.

Current items needed:

  • Peanut butter
  • Jelly
  • Pasta
  • Canned vegetables
  • Juice boxes
  • Pop-top soups

Food collections from PPC and local churches support The Filling Station pantry. Donations may be taken to The Filling Station on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

The Food Pantry is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Watch Worship Online

Pollocksville Presbyterian Church streams Sunday morning worship at 11:00 a.m. on Facebook and YouTube.

No login is needed to watch on YouTube. The church website also shows the livestream at the bottom of the homepage while it is live.

Joys, Concerns, and Prayer Requests

The church continues to share joys and prayer concerns each week. This week’s PollyPress includes updates from the past three weeks, including celebrations of graduations, family milestones, children in Sunday School, and answered prayers, as well as prayer requests for healing, grief, medical concerns, and the needs of the wider world.
