Welcome to this week’s PollyPress. This issue includes congregational updates, upcoming worship and fellowship events, September celebrations, prayer concerns, and ways to support church and community ministries.
Congregational Nominating Committee
The congregation elected Allen Bender, Jimmy Bender, Jerry Burkot, and Diane McCaffity to serve as at-large members of the Congregational Nominating Committee. They will serve with Cheryl Coeyman and Bob Mattocks.
Upcoming Congregational Meeting
A congregational meeting will be held at the conclusion of morning worship on Sunday, September 27. The congregation will receive the Nominating Committee’s report and, if the way is clear, elect three Ruling Elders to the Class of 2029.
Church Life and Upcoming Events
- Sunday School: Adult Sunday School meets in the church library and Children’s Sunday School meets at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday. Remember to bring your Bible.
- Worship: Sundays at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary and online.
- Breath and Movement Class: Tuesdays from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. There will be no class September 29, October 27, November 17, or December 8. For information or registration, email maleray1@gmail.com.
- Choir Practice: Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m.
- Sunday, September 20: Coffee, Cake and Celebrate after worship. The church will celebrate everyone with a September birthday. Contact Noreen Jekel if you can provide cookies or make coffee.
- Sunday, September 27 at 8:00 a.m.: Men’s Breakfast, with Team 1 cooking.
- Sunday, October 4: World Communion Sunday during morning worship. Coffee, Cookies and Conversation resumes after worship, and Session meets at 5:00 p.m.
Greeters and ushers are needed. Please use the sign-up sheet in the narthex if you are willing to serve.
Pastor Ken Yearick is normally available Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. by appointment.
Homecoming Sunday
Homecoming Sunday will be celebrated on October 11. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Dr. Nancy E. J. Gladden. Please make plans to join the congregation for this special day of worship and fellowship.
September Birthdays and Anniversary
September birthdays include Mary Pound on September 9, John Tyler on September 15, Gera Howe on September 17, Callaree Hoffman on September 20, Debbie Fitzgerald on September 23, and Danielle Long Shaw on September 28. Mark and Kay Bender celebrated their anniversary September 2.

Joys and Prayer Concerns
Please remember those recovering from surgery, receiving treatment, facing rehabilitation or hospice care, grieving a loss, or supporting loved ones through illness and other difficult circumstances. Recent requests include prayers for Brent following bypass surgery, James Daugherty following hip surgery, Judy Joyner, Laurie Drescher, Mike Toler, Dena and her family, Bonita, Lee, Millie, and Lisa Stewart and family.
Please also remember those affected by accidents and disasters, those serving in the military and public safety, missionaries, and leaders in our communities and nation.

Support The Filling Station
Current food pantry needs include peanut butter, jelly, pasta, canned vegetables, juice boxes, and pop-top soups. Donations may be taken to The Filling Station on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
