This week’s PollyPress highlights community gratitude, upcoming schedules, ongoing stewardship and mission support, and prayer/joy updates from the congregation.

Message from the Facilities Committee

I’d like to thank Ed Jekel, Robert Bender, and Vic Bryan for their recent volunteer service.

  • Ed and Craven Glass are finishing the interior trim on the new sanctuary doors and adding two exterior security cameras.
  • Robert installed needed HVAC equipment in the fellowship area.
  • Vic continues to help with manse projects and grounds care.

Announcements

 

Worship and Fellowship

  • Coffee, cookies, and conversation in the Fellowship Hall after Sunday worship are on the third Sunday of July, August, and September.
    • Sign up with Noreen Jekel if you want to help serve.

Scholarships

  • Scholarship opportunities are announced in the attached documents:
    • Bender Family Scholarship
    • Burkot Family Scholarship in memory of Mary Jo, Susan, and Wendy
    • Tom and Sybil Harriett Scholarship

Green Team

  • The Green Team continues the Plastic Free July Challenge.
  • This month marks the 16th year of the challenge.
  • The bulletin includes a 31-day plastic-free action calendar.

Announcements and Reminders

  • Choir practice is canceled Wednesday, July 2; next practice is Wednesday, July 8, 6–7 p.m.
  • Sunday worship is at 11:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary.
  • Services are live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube and available on the PPC website.
  • Sundays begin with Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. in the church library.
  • Children’s Sunday School is also at 9:45 a.m.
  • Breathe & Movement class: Tuesdays, 6–7 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.
  • The office is closed Friday, July 3, for Independence Day observance.
  • No session meeting on Sunday, July 5.
  • Women’s Circle meeting: Monday, July 13, 7:00 p.m.
  • Men’s breakfast: Sunday, July 26, 8:00 a.m.
  • Communion Sunday services plus the July/August 5 p.m. session meeting are noted in the calendar.

Prayer, volunteer, and community updates

  • The church secretary, Frances Waters, has limited in-office availability. Call 252-224-8181 before visiting.
  • Greeter/usher volunteers are needed; contact the church to sign up at the narthex.
  • The church needs support at The Filling Station:
    • Peanut butter, jelly, pasta, canned vegetables, juice boxes, and pop-top soups.
    • Donate items Tuesday or Thursday, 9:00 a.m.–Noon.
    • Volunteers and financial donations are also welcome.
