Welcome to this week’s PollyPress. This issue includes congregational meeting information, September events, ministry updates, prayer concerns, and ways to support church and community programs.
Remembering September 11
On September 11, we remember the lives lost and the lasting impact of the attacks 25 years ago. Please keep the families, first responders, service members, and all those affected in your prayers.
Congregational Meetings and Stewardship Lunch
- Sunday, September 13: A congregational meeting will be held at the conclusion of worship to elect four at-large members of the Congregational Nominating Committee and receive suggestions for nominees for Ruling Elder, Class of 2029.
- Sunday, September 13: A Stewardship Lunch and budget question-and-answer program will follow. Lunch will be provided. Session meets at 5:00 p.m.
- Sunday, September 27: A congregational meeting will be held after worship to receive the Nominating Committee report and, if the way is clear, elect three Ruling Elders to the Class of 2029.
Eligible-member information for elder nominations is available through the church office. Completed suggestion sheets may be placed in Jay Bender’s box at the Education Building, given to Frances Waters at the office, or submitted during the September 13 congregational meeting.
Church Life and Upcoming Events
- Sunday School: Adult Sunday School meets in the church library and Children’s Sunday School meets at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday. Remember to bring your Bible.
- Worship: Sundays at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary and online.
- Breath and Movement Class: Tuesdays from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. There will be no class September 25, October 27, November 17, or December 8. For information or registration, email maleray1@gmail.com.
- Choir Practice: Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m.
- Monday, September 14 at 7:00 p.m.: Women’s Circle in the Sanctuary Annex.
- Sunday, September 20: Coffee, Cake and Celebrate after worship. Contact Noreen Jekel if you can provide cookies or make coffee.
- Sunday, September 27 at 8:00 a.m.: Men’s Breakfast, with Team 1 cooking.
- Sunday, October 4: World Communion Sunday during morning worship. Session meets at 5:00 p.m.
- Sunday, October 11: Homecoming Sunday.
Greeters and ushers are needed for September. Please use the sign-up sheet in the narthex if you are willing to serve.
Pastor Ken Yearick is normally available Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. by appointment.
Thanks and Ministry Updates
Thank you to Shirley Bryan for filling in for Debbie on Sunday. The music was beautiful and greatly appreciated.
The church has received an update from missionaries Andy and Ellen Collins. Please continue to remember their ministry in prayer.
The current quarter of These Days daily devotions is available on the table in the narthex.
Please place extra or unwanted bulletins in the white wastepaper bins at the rear of the sanctuary, in the library, or in the Education Building Fellowship Hall.
September Birthdays and Anniversaries
September birthdays include Mary Pound on September 9, John Tyler on September 15, Gera Howe on September 17, Callaree Hoffman on September 20, Debbie Fitzgerald on September 23, and Danielle Long Shaw on September 28. Mark and Kay Bender celebrated their anniversary September 2.

Joys and Concerns
Please continue to remember Lisa and the family of Don Stewart following his death on September 1. The congregation also continues to pray for those facing illness, surgery, grief, travel, and other needs, along with those affected by disasters and tragedy, those serving in the military and public safety, and leaders in our communities and nation.

Support The Filling Station
Current food pantry needs include peanut butter, jelly, pasta, canned vegetables, juice boxes, and pop-top soups. Donations may be taken to The Filling Station on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
